Lainey Wilson said in a new interview that she’s keen to collaborate with Miley Cyrus herself – truly getting the best of both worlds.

Lainey Wilson’s current aesthetic doesn’t exactly scream “Disney Channel”, but in a past life, that certainly may have been the case – in a new interview, the Louisiana-native country star revealed was originally known for impersonating Hannah Montana.
The fun fact was dropped in a new interview with FLAUNT, which Wilson gave to promote her forthcoming Whirlwind album. It’s explained that she started impersonating Hannah Montana professionally at age 13 (some 19 years ago), keeping up the role as Miley Cyrus’ Disney-fied alter ego until she was a senior in high school. It’s said she would regularly perform at parties and festivals, and even opened up her own shows with sets as Hannah.
Being so close to the iconic character (the lead in the eponymous TV series, which Cyrus starred in from 2006 to 2011), Wilson explained that she’d “love to do something with Miley Cyrus” as a collaborative effort. She quipped: “[Since] I used to impersonate Hannah Montana, it would only make sense we had the best of both worlds.”
Cyrus herself is no stranger to the world of country music – her father is literally Billy Ray Cyrus, after all – exploring the genre largely on her 2017 album Younger Now. She’s also covered countless country hits throughout the years, and is notably a close friend of Dolly Parton.
Meanwhile, Wilson is gearing up to release Whirlwind on August 23 via BBR. The album was announced back in May, and the artist has since shared three singles from it: Hang Tight Honey, Country’s Cool Again and 4x4xU. She revealed the album’s tracklist last month, confirming it will feature a collaboration with Miranda Lambert.
Also in June, Wilson released the non-album single Out Of Oklahoma, which appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming Twisters movie.
