In yet another milestone achievement for Australian singer-songwriter James Johnston, he’s just hit one million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Johnston described it as “crazy” to have a million people across the globe listening to his music every month, sharing the news in a video posted on Instagram.

The excitement is written across his face as he thanks his fans, whether they’ve listened once or a thousand times, supported him from the start, or if he’s more of a recent discovery for them.

While celebrating the milestone and thanking his fans for their support, Johnston teased that he has “lots of new music” on the way; he won’t be slowing down any time soon.

Check out the sweet video below.

With the news that Johnston has hit one million monthly listeners on Spotify, fans would be pleased to know that he’s the third-most successful Australian country artist on the streaming platform right now.

He’s behind only Keith Urban, with 6.9 million monthly listeners, and rising country star Mack Geiger, at 2.8 million monthly listeners.

And sooner rather than later, we predict that Wade Forster will reach the million milestone, with over 877,000 monthly listeners to his name. At #5 is Morgan Evans with 706,000 monthly listeners.

James Johnston recently returned home to Australia after an incredible debut headline tour across the UK. During his show in Glasgow, Scotland, he played the brand-new track, COUNTRY SONG – a surprise B-side to TAKES ME BACK – which fans already knew the lyrics to.

To make the moment even more special for his Scottish fans, Johnston brought out a bagpiper – an Australian musician living in Scotland – to boost the performance and bring COUNTRY SONG to life.

On his UK tour, Johnston performed headline shows in Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham, and played at the Country Calling festival.

Earlier this year, he received standout recognition from the Countrytown Awards, with fans crowning him Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year, as well as naming BACK IN THE DAY Song of the Year and last year’s WHERE YOU’LL FIND ME Album of the Year.

He’s also lit up stages at CMC Rocks and Sweden’s High Chaparral Country Festival this year, promoting his latest album, WHERE YOU’LL FIND ME. Australian fans just saw him perform at Gympie Music Muster and will soon witness him back in action at The Bend Classic.
