The Buckleys Go 'Too Fast' On New Track Ahead Of Tamworth Country Music Festival

The Buckleys had a goal with their new single, Too Fast: put a fresh country twist on classic 1960s romantic songs. How did they go with that aim?

Well, we can hear the inspiration as well as the trio’s effortless energy and outstanding storytelling abilities. While Too Fast isn’t as fast as the title suggests, The Buckleys instead detail the feelings of wanting to take it slow in a busy world. Who can’t relate?

Lead singer and songwriter Sarah Grace Buckley said about their new single, “With Too Fast, we really wanted to put a fresh, new, country twist on those 1960s romantic bops. I’m so obsessed with that era in music, especially with melody. It’s influenced me in a lot of ways.”

She added, “Too Fast is about slowing down and enjoying the moment in a world where we're always so eager to move on to the next thing. It's about appreciating where you are right here and right now.”

The Buckleys have also shared a music video filmed at the Northern Rivers pub, The Billinudgel Hotel.

Lachlan Buckley explained the touching reason behind the venue choice: “It was sentimental for us to film at this pub. Our Dad, Mick Buckley (multi-talented musician and drummer for Australian rock band The Radiators), used to have a piano residency here, and it felt like a full circle moment for us.”

Too Fast was produced by Grammy-nominated Masionair star Lachlan Bostock; the track has landed today via Petrol Records / UME.

Bostock said about collaborating with The Buckleys, “It was so much fun working with The Buckleys on Too Fast. It was a blast stepping outside of the musical world I normally live in and being met with such openness and curiosity about the change-up in [the] process from the gang. I felt like an honorary part of the Buckley family.”

The new single arrives just in time for The Buckleys’ four performances as part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The trio will perform free shows on Tuesday, 23 January, at Toyota Park and the Tamworth – Kevin Bennett Stage (Beer Garden) on 25 and 26 January.
