Kip MooreCan you imagine Kip Moore on a show like The Bachelor? If you answered no, then you’re in luck. If you wanted to see it, our apologies: it’s never going to happen.
In 2013 or 2014 – when The Bachelor was at its peak in the US – Moore was asked by his team if he wanted to feature on the series, as “eight million people watched it.” His response? He didn’t care how many people watched it.
Moore discussed the career suggestion and how he went about it in a new interview on the In The Trenches podcast with celebrity photographer and director Spidey Smith, who is based in Nashville.
“I remember turning down a big look at the ACM’s [Academy of Country Music Awards] that was with a big pop star,” he began. “I said, ‘It don’t [sic] make sense for me, they’re great.’ I don’t have anything against what they do, like, music is subjective, but I’m not just gonna do something to do it and make the thing about the thing.”
Adding that he’s “always tried to stick to that,” Moore opened up about The Bachelor. “I remember, ‘Do you want to be ‘The Bachelor?’ It’s like 2013, 2014, and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? We haven’t even gotten this thing… It’s just now getting off the ground.’ That’s the last thing I’m gonna do right now.”

Trying to convince him to do it, Moore was told, “But eight million people watch it.” He wasn’t fazed by those figures. “And I said, ‘I don’t give a shit how many people watch this thing; you’re crazy if you think I’m gonna go do this.’ So, you gotta have a compass as an artist, and know what you’re trying to do. I would have never came [sic] out of that shadow. Would have never happened.”
It could have been interesting, but ultimately, we can’t imagine Kip Moore’s career trajectory if it included a season as The Bachelor. Check out the interview below.
This October and November, Kip Moore returns to Australia and New Zealand for a tour in support of his latest album, Reason To Believe. He’s performing in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Christchurch, and tickets are available here.
