Morgan Wallen has revealed that he’s avoided bars since last April, when he threw a chair from the roof of Eric Church’s bar, Chief’s on Broadway.

The singer-songwriter shared the news in a recent interview with Theo Von on the This Past Weekend podcast after Von stated there’s likely “too much hassle” for Wallen to go in public environments, such as bars, due to his fame.

“It’s definitely the best thing for me, you know,” Wallen began. “If you’re using the bar as a specific example, that’s definitely the best thing for me. I ain’t been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about. The most public time I was in a bar, that’s the last time I was in a bar.”

That public instance occurred last April when Wallen was arrested after allegedly throwing a chair from the roof of Chief’s on Broadway.

The chair landed on the floor just three feet from where Metro Police officers were standing, with Wallen receiving three class E felony charges of reckless endangerment and a misdemeanour charge of disorderly conduct.

After being granted a continuance in August, Wallen appeared in court in December and entered a plea of “conditionally guilty,” reducing his felony charges to misdemeanours.

As part of the plea deal, he was ordered to spend a week in a DUI education centre, followed by two years of supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a $350 fine and court fees.

According to Wallen’s lawyer, the deal will “not result in a conviction” as long he doesn’t violate his agreement with the State. Wallen’s lawyer added that once the singer completes his probation, the charges will be eligible for “dismissal and expungement.”

The lawyer noted that Wallen “cooperated fully” with authorities since the April incident. Wallen also directly communicated and apologised to those involved and “remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Wallen discussed new music and family. You can watch the interview below.

Wallen will release his new album, I’m The Problem, next month. Set to be a 37-track release, he’s been teasing the unreleased song, Come Back As A Redneck, in addition to the already-released singles Lies Lies LiesLove SomebodySmile, the title track, and Just In Case.
