“It ain’t your average tune. It’s named after a real place, written half-sober at full-throttle,” say Sweet Talk.

They’ve been on the scene for years, and Kasey Chambers even called them her “new favourite band,” but now Naarm/Melbourne six-piece boogie rockers Sweet Talk have announced their long-awaited debut album.
The record, dubbed Switch On, will be released on May 23rd via Cheatin' Hearts Records/Warner Music Australia, with limited edition vinyl editions also available for pre-order via Impressed Recordings.
But before it’s released, the group have unveiled their latest single, with Stoned In Texas, Queensland giving a raucous, bluesy preview of what’s to comes. “It ain’t your average tune. It’s named after a real place, written half-sober at full-throttle,” the group explain. “This track’s got dirt under its fingernails and smoke in its lungs.”
Having first bonded over a love of late nights, ‘70s-inspired grooves, classing songwriting, and improvised jams, Sweet Talk didn’t waste any time coming together to form a group that demands attention.
With numerous festival appearances under their belt, and plenty of singles to their name since 2021, the group have swiftly asserted themselves as one of the most important names that lovers of Aussie country music need to be paying attention to.
With debut album Switch On set for release in just under two months, Sweet Talk are well on their way to taking the rest of the Aussie music scene by storm.
