Australian country powerhouse Brad Cox has teamed up with indie rock outfit The VANNS for a new take on their track Gas Craic.

The updated version of the song injects Cox’s unmistakable voice into the mix, bringing a new layer of grit and storytelling to a track already fuelled by road-trip chaos and late-night tour memories.

Originally written shortly after The VANNS wrapped a tour through the UK, Gas Craic captures the kind of moments that tend to define life on the road: equal parts freedom, reflection and the slightly blurry memories that come with long nights and long drives.

“Gas Craic was one of the first songs to come together in the writing process of our third record. It was written relatively quickly after our tour in the UK and the song encapsulates some memorable moments from that tour,” the band shares.

For Cox, the collaboration comes full circle. Long before stepping onto the track himself, the country singer had already shown love for the band’s catalogue by covering their song Silhouette making this official collaboration feel like a fitting choice.

And while the track sits firmly in The VANNS’ indie-rock wheelhouse, Cox’s presence adds a new dimension. His rugged delivery slots naturally into the song’s loose, story driven energy, proving once again that the country artist isn’t afraid to step outside traditional country lanes.

It’s another interesting move in what has been a busy stretch for Cox, who has spent the past few years building a reputation as one of Australia’s most distinctive country voices while also collaborating across genres and audiences.

Meanwhile, The VANNS are riding strong momentum off their third studio album All That's in My Head, which debuted at No.5 on the Australian charts and landed at No.3 on both the Vinyl and Australian Albums charts.

Their previous single Accomplice has already racked up more than 1.5 million video views, while the band continues to dominate playlists and radio rotation both in Australia and internationally.

With Cox now stepping into the mix, Gas Craic feels like something bigger than just another single release, it’s a collision of two corners of the Australian music scene, brought together by a shared love of big stories, loud guitars and the chaos that comes with life on the road.
