Louise is the first single to be lifted from Montgomery Church's second album – and Countrytown has your exclusive first look at the accompanying video.
Grown and distilled in the Snowy Mountain ranges of country New South Wales, Cielle Montgomery and James Church formed as Montgomery Church in 2016. Also our Song of the Day, Louise is the first single to be lifted from the duo’s highly-anticipated second album, titled Where the Quiet Can Hide – and Countrytown has your exclusive first look at the accompanying music video.
Louise is a sorrowful snapshot of that girl everyone knows, told through folk-style acoustic finger-picking guitar, heart aching lyrics and those longing country harmonies that bury deep into the soul.
James says, "I started writing this with the picture in my mind of a guy who was sitting on a dingy bar stool somewhere, ruing what he had lost with this girl Louise. Then Cielle transformed it into this beautiful character profile."
Written and recorded in a beautiful old stone cottage in the Snowy Mountain ranges of rural Australia, Louise was produced by 7 x GRAMMY-nominee Erick Jaskowiak. The music video was filmed in Cielle’s hometown.

Cielle adds, "We shot the video just outside our home town of Cooma, in a beautiful chapel at a place called Snowy Mountains Travellers Rest. Dan Swain at Blended Films directed it. He is a past local to the area and we love the vision he brings to our music."
Montgomery Church have taken their blend of acoustic folk, Americana and bluegrass influences far and wide in their vintage caravan, Daisy, and graced the stages of many iconic music festivals including Groundwater Country Music Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival & Americana Fest in Nashville.
Their previous album, In The Shadow of the Mountain, earned them two Golden Guitar nominations for ‘Bluegrass Recording of the Year’ and ‘Country Instrumental of the Year’. Cielle is a CMAA Academy of Country Music graduate and finalist for several awards, including ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ at the 2016 Australian Independent Country Music Awards. James started learning guitar at the age of 7, later appearing on a wide range of albums by award-winning artists such as Fanny Lumsden, Brad Butcher, Brad Cox and The Weeping Willows to name a few.
Furthermore, before they formed, James’ acoustic string trio String Theories released their debut album Waking the Deep featuring original songs and instrumentals written by all three members. Cielle also released a debut EP called Walking Free in early 2016.
