Wanna Go Cruising With Matt Cornell?

After teasing a bombastic harbour cruise to celebrate his 50th birthday in June, Matt Cornell has revealed what he has in store for another big bash.

Cornell has announced his sixth annual Twilight Sydney Harbour Cruise, in which four hours of fun will begin from pick-up at King Street Wharf. The $85 ticket price includes finger food. It’s not just Cornell performing on the day – special guest Brittany Maggs will also join the festivities.

“Sydney, we’re going back to cruising in January!” The five-time Golden Guitar finalist wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a press shot of the musician in front of Sydney’s Darling Harbour precinct.

“The weather will be amazing, come join me & my band with special guest @brittanymaggs as we cruise Sydney Harbour.”

In June, the Days To Remember artist teased, “Dear friends, I’m turning 50 this year. I’m not quite sure where the time has gone.” Neither are we.

He added, “To celebrate, I’m having a birthday bash on the Brisbane River, and an after party at [Brisbane’s bar and entertainment venue] Johnny Ringo’s, and you’re all invited. The cruise is 12pm till 4pm, after party 4.30pm onwards… it’s going to be a memorable day!”

Earlier this year, Cornell joined forces with country music artist Adam Brand on Our Church, a song non-religious people would understand if they hold music close to their hearts as people do with their faith.

Brand explained, “We found it was helping us deal with the mental anguish of our industry being on its knees, the work & money we had lost. In particular, I was really struggling.

“But I found solace in my mates, in our little catch-up every week. I’m not a religious man, but I decided to call it Church.”

On Wearing Your Heart On Your Sleeve, a podcast episode of The Man That Can Project, Cornell added, “It was never like, ‘let's write a song about mental health.’ We were just expressing ourselves. When I sent Adam the song, he rang me straight away and said, ‘We have to release it,’ because the song was about us, our journey, the last couple of years.”

He continued, “It's funny how mental health has been brought up. I've always been very open if I've been struggling, and I definitely will reach out to friends, but the last couple of years, I have not tried to hide the fact or mask that I was doing okay because it wasn't, and for me, it's just it's probably just who I am anyway. I've always been pretty open and worn my heart on my sleeve, but I find comfort in actually being open.”
