Australian country music star Wade Forster has taken to social media and revealed some scary news: he has a bruised spine as a result of a rodeo injury and has been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Telling his fans that he was expecting a weekend like any other, where he did the two things he loves the most – rodeo and singing songs – Forster admitted that things didn’t go to plan but could have been worse.

On Friday (19 July), the singer was in Charters Towers, Queensland, for a rodeo where he roped his horse pretty well but ended up falling off, landing pretty hard on his back. He then drove to Emerald – a five-and-a-half-hour drive consisting of roughly 480 kilometres of travel.

On Saturday, Forster woke up with back pain and a “terrible” cough but soldiered through his set at the Boon Lane Festival in the Maraboon Tavern. “I got up through the pain and sung my set before going backstage and suffering through the pain,” he wrote.

He took a turn for the worse on Sunday and spent the night in the hospital. That’s when Forster received an official diagnosis. “Turns out I ended up with pneumonia and a bruised spine,” he shared. “To be fair, better outcome than I was expecting when I went in there.

“I put my heart and soul into both rodeo and music and for me this is a kick to my ego but I will be back at it as soon as I can. Can't keep me down for too long.”

Forster then thanked everyone who checked in on him or helped him get through the weekend, especially Aussie singer-songwriter and guitarist Jarrad Wrigley and his band, who “helped me set up my gear before I went on because they saw me struggling, and to them I thank em.”

At the end of his post, Forster revealed that he has new music coming soon and advised his fans to “stay tuned.” In the Facebook comments, he also shared the video of himself falling off his horse.

Countrytown wishes Forster a speedy recovery!

Since winning this year’s Toyota Star Maker competition, Forster has appeared at the Australian music festival Lasso, opened for Lane Pittman, gone to the US and played at CMA Fest, and will feature at the Brisbane-based music festival and conference event BIGSOUND in September. In May, Forster released his latest single, Off The Drugs.

Had a moment this weekend that I thought I should share. Was gonna be like any other weekend, getting to do my two...
