New Music Wrap Up: Taylor Moss, Fanny Lumsden, Ryan Hurd and more!

From Ryan Hurd to Fanny Lumsden, The Viper Creek Band to Taylor Moss, Jamie McDell to Good Will Remedy and so many more, here’s a wrap up of all the new releases in country world!

Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt – Wishful Drinking

Ingrid Andress is an American country singer from Colorado, who has been nominated for a truck load of awards since signing with Warner Nashville in mid-2018. She released her debut studio album, Lady Like last year, which featured her gold-certified single, More Hearts Than Mine. Her latest single (and first collaboration), Wishful Drinking is a duet with Sam Hunt.

Ingrid shared on her Facebook, “the sad bop you’ve wanted all summer is finally outttt! Sam Hunt you make everything sound better tbh thank u for being my first collab ever on a song. Wishful Drinking out now for all you sad/happy hunnies out there." [sic]

Miranda Lambert – Tequila Does (Telemitry Remix)

Tequila Does is actually a track from Miranda Lambert’s 2019 Grammy-nominated album, Wildcard, however, she has dropped the Telemitry Remix, so we thought it was worth mentioning. Her husband Brendan McLoughlin, brother Luke and his husband, Marc, along with other members of the LGBTQ+ community feature in the colourful video, which was shot at the singer’s 400-acre farm in Tennessee. The new track is courtesy of Lambert and Nashville-based producer and DJ Telemitry. It's her first remix in her 20+ year career.

Ryan Hurd – Coast

Following the release of Chasing After You with wife and fellow country star, Maren Morris; Ryan Hurd’s latest single, Coast is the ideal summer anthem. It was co-written and produced by Aaron Eshuis.

Ryan says, "Coast is one of those songs that just makes you want to get on the water and get away from the everyday routine. I wrote this with a buddy and knew immediately I wanted to record it."

Whitney Duncan – Me, Myself and the Highway

Some of you may recognise American country singer-songwriter, Whitney Duncan from the 23rd season of Survivor, Survivor: South Pacific and/or the 25th season of The Amazing Race. Her latest single, Me, Myself and the Highway follows the release of her third EP, Heartbreak, which dropped earlier this year.

Clay Walker – Catching Up With An Ol’ Memory

There's more to the duality of Clay Walker's debut Show Dog Nashville album Texas To Tennessee than the title. Certainly, the realities of place are as central as this comeback album's name implies: Nashville busily working toward the next fresh hit; Texas moving at its inimitable and familiar pace. There's also a mix of songwriting and production approaches, evident and more nuanced relationships between the songs themselves, and the overarching presence of a naturally gifted vocalist who relentlessly pursues his own development as a singer. Catching Up With An Ol’ Memory is his latest single.

Good Will Remedy – Ghost Town

Good Will Remedy harness all that’s good from country, alt country and rock and mix it all together in a southern fried feel-good alt Countryesque Americana-style all their own. With over 1,000 live shows to their name, they have slayed across the big two of country music – the Tamworth Country Music Festival and The Gympie Music Muster – quickly becoming live favourites whether gracing the big stages or more intimate barroom parties. Ghost Town is the follow up to their charting single, Lightning Bolt.

The Viper Creek Band – People Drinkin’ Beer

The Viper Creek Band return with their latest single, People Drinkin’ Beer – a sing-along anthem about something we can all relate to, given the times we are all going through. The song was penned by Nashville writers Skip Black, Brandon Kinney and Jim McCormick.

Viper Creek Band front man, Damien Baguley says, “We wrote with Skip on our last record and when we were looking for songs to cut, we reached out to see what he had in his arsenal.”

Jamie McDell – Dream Team

New Zealand singer-songwriter, Jamie McDell was signed at age 16, and went on to release her debut album, Six Strings and a Sailboat – which achieved gold sales and received three NZ Music Award nominations. Dream Team is the first single from her forthcoming album, due in early 2022.

She says, “I wrote Dream Team while sitting on the bathroom floor of my partner's boss's apartment after having just finished watching the last episode of the Netflix series Chernobyl. I wouldn’t say this song was inspired by the tragic events that took place in 1986, but the devastating stories paired with a social media post by some local popular boys with the caption 'Dream Team' had me questioning who we aspire to be like, and the hands that we choose to place our families lives in.”

Fanny Lumsden – Grown Ups

Multi-Golden Guitar and ARIA Award winning country singer-songwriter, Fanny Lumsden returns with another gem taken from her critically acclaimed album fallow, in the tender bittersweet ballad Grown Ups.

Fanny says, “This is a song for the moments you realise you are or have to be the grown up. For me, moments such as realising I had one of those cupboards that you put the good plates in - just to look at, or when we had to host Christmas and you look around and go, well I don't know how to do that - the grown-ups always do that. These moments in my experience are fleeting and you revert back to your normal self, feeling like the child. It’s also a song about the beauty and sadness in ageing. watching your parents go greyer every year and knowing that it’s up to you to hold the memories, up to you to find the keys. But it still leaves you wondering where all the time went.”

Gretta Ziller – Dry Town

Gretta Ziller is the second of four more tracks to be released before her forthcoming album, Judas Tree drops in September. This track takes elements from Gretta’s past and present. Her honest and emotive writing style is embraced by sounds taken from contemporary production trends.

Gretta says, “This song is that make-it-work or break-up moment that relationships get to, when all subtleties have been thrown out the window and you have to have that real conversation. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been at this point.”

Taylor Moss – Chaser

Taylor Moss first entered a recording studio at the age of 15 with her debut single Stuck In My Head in 2012, and has been travelling to Nashville once a year since she was 18. She got her break winning the Urban Country Music Festival talent quest in 2012. Written with Andrew Swift, Chaser is a hypnotic country/blues/pop tune that lyrically compares her ex to low grade, bottom shelf grog.

Taylor says, “Chaser is all about finding light at the end of the tunnel … someone might leave a bad taste in your mouth, but you can always have a sweet chaser to wash it down. I think most people will find my song relatable, we’ve all had a bad shot with someone!”

Danielle Bradbery – Stop Draggin’ Your Boots

With her latest release, Stop Draggin’ Your Boots, Danielle Bradbery shows a side of herself we’ve never seen before in a fiery coming-of-age declaration. She takes the put-up-or-shut-up honky tonk shuffle one step further with a boot-stompin’ video embodying the song’s feisty message. Fine-tuning her unique sound since getting her start winning The Voice US, she has earned multiple award nominations and toured across the globe with Kane Brown, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley and more.

Zac Brown Band – Paradise Lost On Me

Zac Brown Band have been dropping new songs like … I don’t know, I guess someone who drops a lot of new songs. Most recently, he released Stubborn Pride and Paradise Lost On Me. The latter calls back to their carefree hits like Toes and Knee Deep, and transports the listener to a tropical setting.

Speaking about Paradise Lost On Me, front man Zac Brown says, "I love the second verse: ‘Without you it’s just waves trashing kids’ castles and it’s the salt in the wound all over again. The guy found love there at this spot and never found anything like it again, so he comes back to that place again to be close to where it happened. In the song, we never give away what happened to her, but you know it was something he could never actually get over.”

The Silverline – A Horse and His Girl

Emerging award-winning country act The Silverline have dropped their sixth single, A Horse and His Girl from their debut album, Hometown Rodeo. Over the past 18 months, the duo has been writing, producing and releasing singles in readiness to officially launch the album later this year. To date they’ve released 5 singles (all of which went top 5 Nationally), and 2 of which went to #1 on the Australian National Country Songs airplay chart (Box of Wood and Walking the Wall, respectively).
