Dolly PartonDolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been vandalised just a week after her passing, The Hollywood Reporter notes.
As fans have seen on social media, photos and videos show dark markings across the country music icon’s star.
On Threads, a reported witness said that she and her daughter visited Parton’s star to leave flowers, but “somebody decided to do this about 10 minutes before we got here,” indicating that the site was vandalised right before they arrived.
In the caption, she added, “When we arrived, a custodian was cleaning and told us a woman kicked candles around, then with the shards of one scratched the star. Then a man came and stole the flowers that were there.”

But the star won’t be looking like that for long. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed that Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame would be replaced.
The new star will be available to view later this week, according to the Hollywood Historic Trust. The organisation wrote on Instagram that it’s “proud to honour the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star. The new star will be available for viewing this Friday.”
Dolly Parton passed away last week (25 August) at the age of 80, following “a brief battle with cancer.”
Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the news of her passing in an Instagram video on the singer’s account, which reaches over nine million followers. An additional post honouring Parton and her legacy was posted afterwards.
In a statement, he said, “Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.
“Rest in peace, Aunt Dolly, and Granny, Gigi. May God bless Dolly Parton, and may God bless you all. She will always love you.”
In addition to being a music icon, Parton dabbled in acting from time to time (including 1980's 9 To 5 and 1982's The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas).
She paired her jovial “backwoods Barbie” image with the role of a highly influential figure in the world of music, helping pave the way for other pop-influenced country artists, including Shania Twain and even her own goddaughter, Miley Cyrus.
Regarded highly for her philanthropic efforts, Parton focused on improving children's literacy worldwide through her Imagination Library, which has provided books to young readers. Launched in 1995, it sent out its 100 millionth book back in 2018.
