“Morgan is someone we’ve been wanting to get to the Muster because we know it’s a festival that means a lot to him,” CEO Greg Cavanagh says
The headliner for this year’s Gympie Music Muster has been unveiled, and it’s none other than Newcastle songster Morgan Evans, appearing hot on the heels of his brilliant new EP Life Upside Down.
Evans – who was also just announced for NQ’s Rock’n Country Music Festival – joins a bill of more than 100 artists altogether; the 2023 Muster will be spread across six venues in the northern Queensland city, running over four days from August 24-27. Evans is the 94th artist announced, with the final batch set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
In a statement shared alongside the news, Greg Cavanagh (CEO of the Gympie Music Muster) said Evans’ addition to the line up has been celebrated internally. “The excitement has been palpable among the Muster team with this announcement,” he said. “Morgan is someone we’ve been wanting to get to the Muster because we know it’s a festival that means a lot to him, and he means a lot to our Muster mates.
“This inclusion almost rounds out our entertainment offerings at the Muster this year and demonstrates how our program offers something for lovers of all types of country, rock and blues and plenty of genres in between. We cannot wait for our event in August.”
This year’s Muster will mark Evans’ second as a performer, having previously appeared on the bill in 2015. This time around, he’ll be joining the likes of Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Brand, Kasey Chambers, Casey Barnes, Busby Marou, The Angels, The Wolfe Brothers, Travis Collins, Midland, Sara Storer, Hoodoo Gurus, Emily Wurramara, The Screaming Jets and many more. Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley have also been announced as the event’s official ambassadors.
