Groundwater Country Music Festival’s international headliner Tim Hicks has today (August 8) announced he will play a one-off Sydney side show prior to the festival.
The Sydney gig will take place on October 18 at The Beer Shed. Tickets for the event are on sale now via TryBooking, with GA tickets priced at $45 and VIP tickets (including early entry and priority seating) priced at $75.
This show is set to be the Canadian’s first-ever ticketed event in the Harbour City.
Following this side show, Hicks will head to Broadbeach to headline Groundwater Country Music Festival, a three-day free event on the Gold Coast.
He’ll be joined there by fellow country icons Kasey Chambers, Shannon Noll and Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, as well as Gord Bamford, Taylor Moss, Max Jackson, Christie Lamb, Josh Setterfield, Jayne Denham, Robbie Mortimer, this year’s Toyota Star Maker winner Wade Forster, and more.
Speaking on his upcoming shows, Hicks wrote in a press release, “I can’t wait to get back down to Australia to see all our Aussie friends in October! I sense more than a few shoeys in our future.”

Groundwater is set to run from October 18-20, with Hicks playing on the 19th and 20th.
The 2024 event follows the 2023 edition of Groundwater Country Music Festival, which was headlined by Casey Barnes on the Friday and also starred Rhinestoned and US supergroup Asleep At The Wheel. Jackson Dean, Adam Harvey & Beccy Cole performed their popular Great Country Songbook show, while the Australian King and Queen of country music, Lee Kernaghan and Amber Lawrence provided a wicked finale, and many more.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said of last year’s event, “The Gold Coast has been a proud host of this award-winning country music festival for the past decade and every year, it delivers an exceptional line-up of talent and a unique experience.
“Make room for tens of thousands of country music fans dusting off their Akubras and hitting Broadbeach to dance the day – and nights – away. The best news is it’s free, so see you there as we come together to celebrate everything that’s great about the Goldie.”
