Carrie Underwood is set to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony next week.

AP News reports that Underwood will sing America The Beautiful at the event, while The Village People will perform at two of Trump’s inauguration events. Two of the incoming President-Elect’s favourite acts, country artist Lee Greenwood and opera singer Christopher Macchio, will also perform at the inauguration ceremony.

Underwood is reportedly due to hit the stage “shortly before” Trump takes the oath of office on Monday, 20 January, at the US Capitol.

In a statement, Underwood said of her performance at the ceremony, “I love our country and am honored [sic] to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

She continued, “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Underwood isn’t only an uber-successful country star, but she’s about to reach a new height of reaching the mainstream.

In March, the Before She Cheats singer will return to where her career began. She will make her debut as a judge on American Idol, replacing departing judge Katy Perry and joining the panel alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

CNN reports that Underwood is typically quite a private individual and doesn’t discuss politics on social media or new music. In her statement above, she didn’t mention Trump by name and instead focused on unity, but she may still be seen as an artist aligned with the President-Elect.

Last year, country stars Jason Isbell, Mickey Guyton, and Maren Morris supported Vice President Kamala Harris, while Jason Aldean, Travis Tritt, and Brian Kelley endorsed Trump.
