Amber LawrenceAmber Lawrence has announced her eighth studio album Suburban Cowgirl, set for release on May 29, alongside her debut children’s book of the same name. It’s a dual release that captures where she’s at personally, creatively and professionally.
“I’m from Mascot,” Lawrence says. “I love country music. I love telling stories. I always was the Suburban Cowgirl. It just took an album to make it official.”
Described as “the most joyful and self-assured record” of her 21-year career, Suburban Cowgirl leans into a lighter, more playful energy; something Lawrence intentionally set out to create after the emotional weight of her previous ARIA nominated album.
“This album is the moment of life I’m in,” she explains. “I’m allowed to feel guilty and chase my dreams at the same time. I’m allowed to go out with the girls. I wanted people to hear this and realise you’re allowed to do that too.”
Written in between real life school drop-offs, P&F duty, 80 shows a year, the album came together in a more organic way than her past releases. But that balance of chaos and clarity has shaped some of its standout moments.

Tracks like Kick the Doors Down were written when Lawrence felt “jet-lagged, guilt-ridden and somewhat defeated,” eventually becoming a turning point for the entire project. Meanwhile, You Can Admit You Like Country Music was sparked by her appearance on The Project during the surge of mainstream interest in country music, offering what’s described as a cheeky, celebratory take from someone who’s been backing the genre for decades.
At the heart of the record is Sing Me Home, a reflection on her career and connection with fans. “When people say my song helped them get through something in life,” she says, “that’s just another little bit of fuel to keep on driving and keep on singing.”
Alongside the album, The Suburban Cowgirl book brings that same story to a younger audience, following a city kid chasing a country dream. For Lawrence, the timing feels right. After two decades in the industry, she’s telling her story in a new way and in a way that invites the next generation in.
As for the remainder of 2026 she’s not slowing down. Lawrence will be hitting the road including dates as part of Great Southern Nights, her Suburban Cowgirl tour kicking off in July and an appearance at the Gympie Music Muster in August.
