The devil works hard, but Adam Harvey works harder. The musician, whose career has spanned 20 years, is back again with the new single It’s Gettin’ Late, released today (Friday, 26 April) on all streaming platforms.
The single marks just one of Harvey’s collection of new songs, with an album set to be released in October 2024.
In typical Adam Harvey fashion, It’s Gettin’ Late is a happy-go-lucky track about having fun at the pub and savouring the good times with good mates. As Harvey croons in the song, we only live once.
"I've always loved the artist Tom T. Hall and the way he can write a song like it's just a conversation between two people,” Adam explained in a statement. “In one particular song, Tom sings about being in a bar with an old friend. When they realise how late it is, they decide they may as well have another drink because they are going to be in trouble anyway."
The singer posted a live rendition of the song to his social media on Saturday (20 April). He sounds identical in person as he does on the track.

Harvey and long-time friend David Lee Murphy fleshed out the new track. While Murphy stopped releasing his own tracks in 2004, the Nashville artist has been co-writing tracks with Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and Blake Shelton.
"I knew the idea would be perfect for David because we are great mates and have a lot in common,” Harvey said. “He writes plenty of party/drinking songs just like me.”
As far as collaboration goes, Harvey has been recording up a storm in Nashville alongside Luke Wooten (Lainey Wilson, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley) to prepare for the latest album due in October 2024. While little is known about the new album as of yet, Harvey is the type to promise something good.
Harvey’s last album, Songs From Highway One, was named Country Album of The Year at the 2022 Golden Guitar Awards.
In the lead-up to the new album, Harvey will be busy touring in June, visiting Australia’s rural gems such as Leonora, Gunnedah, and Warialda.
