What?
Born in 1984 as a bluegrass band, the Drifters come from the Ultrasounds, Rhythm Rustlers, Jump N’ Jive, Slim Dusty and Texicali Rose, and the Helldoradoes. They’ve played from Byron Bay to Texas and have supported Flaco Jiminez, Sara McLachlan, Herbie Hancock, and Sonny Curtis.Whether it’s Western swing, hardcore country, cajun, blues or rockabilly, theirs is roots music played in their unique country style. All in all the Drifters would have logged close to 2,000 gigs in their career, if you haven’t seen them you’re missing out on one of Melbourne’s legendary identities.
