Max McNownIt’s been a mammoth year for country music in Australia. We’re seeing growth in streaming numbers, ticket and merch sales as well as the sheer number of country festivals and tours popping up across the country. It’s no doubt that the country music band wagon is picking up momentum.
Countrytown can now reveal the data for 2025 and what exactly took over the radio airwaves across the nation.
If you kept a close eye on the charts, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Max McNown took out the #1 position with Better Me For You (Brown Eyes) as it spent a whopping 40 weeks in the charts. What is surprising is that despite all the success of the single, it only ever peaked at #2, showing the power of long-term support.
Shaboozey who topped the 2024 radio charts with his monster hit A Bar Song (Tipsy) came in at the #2 position with his single Good News, closely followed by country newcomer Zach Top who’s viral smash hit I Never Lie ended the year at #3.
As for the Australian front, well it’s a little bleaker. Last year we saw thirteen Australian tracks make this list, this year only two (sorry, we’re not going to count The Kid LAROI’s feature on Lost).

That’s right just local two songs made the entire top 50 country songs on Australian country radio in 2025, Lane Pittman’s Amen For The Weekend coming in at #17, making it the number one Australian song on Australian country radio and the collaboration between The Wolfe Brothers and Lee Kernaghan on Country Is Coming To Town which just scraped in at #46. Either there’s less Australian music on the airwaves, or it’s being split between more songs, but whatever the reason, 2025 was not the year of Australian hits on country radio.
It’s worth noting that Morgan Wallen once again took out the pole position for the most entries with What I Want feat. Tate McRae (#11), Love Somebody (#27), I’m The Problem (#31), I Got Better (#32) and Just In Case (#47).
So without further ado, here are your top 50 songs of 2025. Keep checking the Countrytown Hot 50 every Friday for the most up to date list of what’s happening on country radio right now and follow every week on the playlist on Spotify and Apple Music.
