Piper ButcherAustralian artist Piper Butcher is keeping her momentum rolling with the release of her new single Better, and today she premieres the vibrant new music video that perfectly matches her bold, energetic personality with Countrytown.
The clip captures the same emotional push-and-pull that drives the song itself, balancing moments of uncertainty with bright visuals, playful energy and an undeniable sense of optimism.
Much like Butcher’s live presence, the video refuses to stay still for long, leaning into colour, movement and personality while reinforcing the song’s core message about pushing through difficult moments.
Following the breakout success of her collaboration with Austin Mackay on The Bullet, Better finds Butcher diving deeper into the emotional unpredictability of life, comparing its highs and lows to a rollercoaster ride.
“Sometimes you feel like you’re circling the drain and digging yourself a hole to stay in forever”, says Butcher. “I love to embrace these moments and put a positive spin on those times where we feel a bit down and out”.
That balance between vulnerability and positivity sits at the centre of both the single and its accompanying visual.
While the lyrics unpack uncertainty and emotional burnout, the video flips those heavier themes into something uplifting and fun.

“Better is a therapeutic anthem that encourages you to sit in the scary uncertain feelings and take a second before you get back up, dust yourself off and get ready for the next thing that life throws at you”.
Butcher has spent years building toward this moment. A multi-instrumentalist as well as a performer, she has worked across the Australian music scene both as a solo artist and supporting musician, performing alongside acts including Brad Cox, Wade Forster and Melody Moko.
Over the past year, her profile has continued to rise rapidly. She has landed ARIA and AMRAP #1 hits, received support from Triple J and other Australian radio networks, and was recently named a finalist for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2026 Countrytown Awards.
Butcher has also built a strong reputation onstage, appearing at major festivals including AmericanaFest, Woodford Folk Festival, Dashville Skyline and Party in the Paddock, while sharing stages with artists including Ocean Alley, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Veronicas and Sons Of The East.
Most recently, she has toured alongside Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham.
Away from music, Butcher is also supporting the Cancer Council this month as part of Star of The Hunter’s Dance for Cancer initiative, inspired by her grandmother’s six-year battle with cancer. She has managed to raise a whopping $8,000 for the charity.
With Better, though, Butcher is proving exactly why she’s becoming one of the most exciting personalities in Australian music right now.
