“I love that music videos create a story in pictures and bring the song lyrics to life, and I feel like this video really achieves that!”
Country-pop favourite Melanie Dyer today unveils a music video for her latest single, Song For That, premiering exclusively on Countrytown.
The singer-songwriter teamed up with director Jackson James for a third time on what she describes as a “special” collaboration, one that arrives before her highly anticipated appearance at Nashville’s CMA Music Festival in June.
“We kept the locations local, filming one of the performance scenes south of our hometown in the beautiful Port Macquarie region along the backroad tracks by the beach,” Dyer told Countrytown. “The other performance scenes were filmed at an awesome local store called 'Dark Alley Collectibles' in Port Macquarie.
“I had a vision when I wrote the song that the music video would have me sifting through records, finding the perfect ‘song for that' and I couldn't believe the perfect place was right in my hometown.

Following on from hits such as Memphis T-Shirt, Run Out Of Road and Cheap Moscato, Song For That was released last month to a wealth of praise.
Upon its release, Dyer noted: “If you think about all the significant milestones in your life, your first love, heartbreak, leaving your hometown or seeing your first concert, there's always a song that takes you back to that exact moment. It's like a soundtrack to your memories. I hope this song connects with the listener and takes them on a journey to a place they've once been.
“Working with Rod McCormack on the production of this song was really inspiring. He really took my voice memo from the day I wrote it at home on my living room floor and brought the song to life with each note that he played.”
After playing at CMA Music Festival next month, alongside Jason Aldean, Dan + Shay, Miranda Lambert and more to celebrate the event’s 50th Anniversary, Dyer will return to Australia to play the Big Red Bash in Birdsville on July 4 and Mundi Mundi Bash in Broken Hill on August 17.
