Y.O.G.A.Australia’s country EDM movement just got another major moment, with Y.O.G.A. joining forces with breakout star Lane Pittman for a remake of Josh Turner’s classic Your Man.
The track officially arrives after the pair debuted it live at Stagecoach Festival in California last month, a performance that almost never happened thanks to a massive sandstorm shutting down the festival grounds.
For Y.O.G.A., aka Reuben Styles, the idea started after his original remix of the Turner hit unexpectedly exploded online and quickly became a fan favourite during his live sets.
“Since I fell in love with country music, ‘Your Man’ has been one of my favourite songs. The moment I heard Josh Turner’s voice I thought, “Far out, this guy is as good as it gets.””
“It almost felt wrong to touch it because it’s such a perfect original, but I did a remix and then the remix actually popped off online and it also popped off hard in the sets. It’s one of those songs that absolutely everyone who is into country music loves.”

“When I posted it online, fans were begging for me to release it. We thought no one‘s ever going to be able to recreate those iconic vocals. But then who could recreate the most manly sounding man in existence, but a 19-year-old boy from Tamworth called Lane Pittman.”
Styles said Pittman immediately proved he was the perfect fit for the track.
“Lane Pittman has just got a beautiful, deep, manly voice and let’s say when I got him in the studio, within two seconds I was like, “Yeah we’re good. It’s going to work.” I can’t even begin to explain how crazy my praises are for Lane.”
For Pittman, the collaboration marked a pretty huge sonic shift from his usual country sound.
“Recording ‘Your Man’ was really fun. It’s the most different thing I think I’ve ever done. I’ve never done techno dance remix before, so getting in the studio figuring out how we were going to record it was really fun.”
“Obviously this version of ‘Your Man’ is a lot faster than the original by Josh Turner, but we slowed it down, recorded the demo, and then sped it up, which worked really well.”
“And we’ve got some great players on the song - Charlie Finn who is an amazing pedal steel player, as well as Luke Moller who is insane on the fiddle. Reuben smashed the production on it - it’s phenomenal.”
Their live debut of the song at Stagecoach almost didn’t happen Pittman explains:
“I played earlier in the day on the main stage and Y.O.G.A. was supposed to be on at 9pm. But there was a huge sandstorm that came through the site out in the desert in California - the winds were crazy, the whole festival ended up getting shut down, and there was a point where we were told that we weren’t going to get to play the set at all. One thing led to another, they ended up opening the site back up and thankfully we had enough time for Reuben to get his set in and we got to go out and play to a packed Diplo’s HonkyTonk.”
“It was one of the funnest songs I’ve ever played live - the crowd in there was immaculate and the vibes were high. Everybody had thought the night was over, so getting to come back in and get amongst some great music, the crowd was all in for it.”
Y.O.G.A. is currently continuing his national cow★tech tour across Australia, with upcoming shows in Western Australia before returning to the Gympie Music Muster later this year and heading to New Zealand’s Snow Machine Festival in Queenstown.
