Wade Forster has joined forces with rising US artist Tyler Halverson on their new single Like The Rodeo, a collaboration that comes from a lived experience rather than industry matchmaking.
Like The Rodeo pulls from both artists’ deep ties to rodeo culture and life in motion. The song explores the push and pull of loving someone who’s just as driven as you are, set against long miles, late nights, and the constant call of the next destination.
Laced with steel guitars amongst and Halverson’s and Forster’s gritty vocals, the song tells the story of two people always on the move, one chasing shows with a six string, the other running down white lines chasing the rodeo circuit.
At its core, Like The Rodeo asks a question that hits hard for anyone who’s ever lived out of a bag or a truck: are we ever gonna catch up?
Talking about the new single Halverson said “You don’t make any money sitting still, whether you rope, ride, or sing. This song is about chasing somebody who’s chasing something themselves. A world Wade and I both know well.”

For Forster, the collaboration felt natural. “Tyler Halverson and I come from similar backgrounds. We know the road and world of rodeo and for us to do a song together is pretty cool,” he said.
Texas runs deep through Halverson’s songwriting DNA, and Like The Rodeo is no exception. Written after a self-imposed escape from Nashville, the track came together during a period of reflection and recalibration. “I got pissed off with Nashville and ran away to Turkey, Texas,” Halverson says. “I was crashing with some buddies in a trailer, smoking it out, and writing songs. ‘Like a Rodeo’ is about chasing somebody who is also chasing something, and wondering if those paths are ever going to cross.”
The single lands ahead of Halverson’s debut album In Defense of Drinking, out February 13, and offers a glimpse into what’s shaping up to be a standout release. For both artists, Like The Rodeo isn’t just a song it’s a snapshot of a life lived constantly moving.
