The pair were on a holiday at Hamilton Island, celebrating four years of being together. In a post about the trip, Davey said, “Crazy how time flies!”
It comes amid a tumultuous few years for the Admire singer. Diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis in 2021, his condition reached a ‘critical’ level last year, requiring surgery. Since then, he also developed Cauda Equina, a nerve condition.
The Australian music community rallied around him during this time, with Chelsea Berman, Taylor Moss, Kylie Jane, Piper Rodrigues, Imogen Hall, Jack Hudson, Maddy Andrews and Jamie Preston all performing at Jake Fest, a festival organised to fundraise for Davey’s medical bills.
This year, Davey made his triumphant return to music, releasing both Made and Second Chance, empowering singles focusing on his medical journey. Second Chance has been described as Davey’s “most honest and vulnerable song yet”, with the artist explaining further in a statement on social media:
I guess a lot went through my mind five months ago when I was diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome. I truly feel like I’ve been given a Second Chance, so I wrote a song about it! This one’s for anyone who’s been through some shit and made it out the other side!
