Granger Smith has turned to YouTube to drop the trailer for his forthcoming book, Like A River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward After Loss and Heartache, due out on August 1.
The book, as well as his current and final tour, is named after his 3-year-old son River who died after tragically drowning in the family’s backyard pool on June 4th, 2019. The book will follow his emotional journey through the ups and downs after River's death and teach readers how to face their failures, confront their pain, and connect with God.
"I remember turning in the manuscript for the first time, and I called my wife Amber, and I said, 'Well, I'm about to send this manuscript out. There's no stopping it now.' Like, you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube," he told PEOPLE. "There's things in here that are extremely vulnerable. It's very personal. But the overwhelming feeling was that if my story could help others, then it's worth it, then it matters."
Smith shared the trailer on May 17, River’s birthday. He captioned on YouTube, “You know—losing [River] just about killed me. On that grief journey, I left NO stone unturned to heal myself, but nothing helped until… everything changed. These last four years have been the wildest ride of my life, and yet I’ve mostly kept it to myself until now. I want you to know the whole story (at times as unbelievable as it is). I want the information that I learned to be available to anyone that is hurting. I’ve written this intimate story in the best form of media that I know how: a book.”
According to Amazon, it reads:
“Like a River, life is full of twists and turns.
Like a River, people pollute our world with their critique and criticism.
Like a River, tragic events keep us dammed up.
But like a river, we can find the courage to keep moving downstream.”
