New Zealand-born country veteran Kaylee Bell is gearing up to make 2025 a year to remember, announcing the release of her latest album, Cowboy Up.
Set for release on September 26th, the new record arrives 18 months on from the release of last year’s Nights Like This, which undoubtedly added extra attention to the already bright star. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.
While Nights Like This showcases Bell’s growing momentum, Cowboy Up shows her realising her power and potential as she cements herself as one of the most accomplished voices in Australasian country music.
Confident and passionate, Cowboy Up is the sound of an artist who knows exactly who she is as she realises her desires and pairs exuberant, communal anthems with raw ballads and introspective storytelling.
Alongside the announcement of Cowboy Up’s impending release, Bell has also shared her latest single, The Thing About Us. A bright and breezy piece of work wrapped in feel-good anthemic vibes, it’s a track that celebrates commitment, connection, and the magic of life’s simple moments and the kind of love that shows up in the everyday.
There are also some more personal moments at play on the record. "I’ve written a song for my little one, and it's really special to me,” Bell told Countrytown earlier this year. “It’s definitely a bit emotional, but I think it’s important to have that vulnerability mixed in with the fun tracks.”

That song appears to be Heartbeat, which also appears on Cowboy Up, and is – as Bell explains – “the most personal song I’ve ever written.”
“Writing it was my way of processing all those feelings, the joy, the fear, and the deep sense of love that was already forming,” she explains. “I hope it connects with anyone who’s experienced a life-changing moment, those times when everything is suddenly different, and you feel your world expanding.”
While Cowboy Up will be released on September 26th, Bell already has a few live plans for the rest of the year, including an appearance at the Gympie Music Muster on August 30th, the Deni Ute Muster on October 3rd, The Bend Classic, and Strummingbird Festival in October and November.
