Casey Barnes’ international takeover continues, with his song Never Give Up On A Good Time soundtracking a TV commercial in the US.
As the Tasmanian country star boasted on social media, the track was used in a promo for the New Year’s Eve broadcast on CBS, New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash. The special will air live in the lead-up to the New Year’s fireworks, with co-hosts Elle King and Rachel Smith leading performances from the likes of Bailey Zimmerman, Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Old Dominion, Carley Pearce and Blake Shelton (in addition to King herself).
The show itself is billed to sport a further 13 performers – including Hardy, Kane Brown, Megan Moroney and Trace Adkins – but unless he makes a surprise appearance, Barnes isn’t actually scheduled to play the event. Posting about the commercial on social media, he too seemed surprised by it, writing: “Well this is HUGE!! Opened social media last night to a bunch of messages from the US and CBS are using Never Give Up On A Good Time for the NYE Big Bash TV ad!”

It’s been a big year for Barnes. In addition to four standalone single releases – Summer Nights in February, Boys Like Me in May, Never Give Up On A Good Time in September and Miracles in November – he’s celebrated some major award wins (like his first APRA Award, the People’s Choice Award at the Groundwater Country Music Festival, and the Australian award for Best Global Country Artist at the CMAs), as well as the landmark announcement that he’ll be performing at Stagecoach in California next year.
As for what to expect from Barnes in 2024, we’re hoping to finally hear his long-teased collaboration with Morgan Evans and Danielle Blakey.
Earlier this month, Barnes blasted Virgin Airlines after a flight cancellation forced him to fork out an obscene amount of cash ($2,000 for each member of his crew) so they could make it to a gig on time with Qantas’ replacement flights.
