Are you the next rising star of country music in Australia? If you just might be, guess what? The Groundwater KIX Start Competition is back, and auditions are now open for this year’s contest.

KIX Country, in partnership with the Groundwater Country Music Festival, is seeking keen artists who can record and upload an acoustic performance of an original song for the Groundwater KIX Start Competition to YouTube.

The rules? Your video must be filmed in landscape mode and be under four minutes in length. And, by entering the competition, you have to be okay with your video submission possibly getting posted on the KIX Country social media profiles and website.

Auditions are now open and close on Sunday, 22 September. This year’s Groundwater Country Music Festival will take over Broadbeach on the Gold Coast from Friday, 18 October to Sunday, 20, with the entire festival free to attend. You can head here for more information on how to be a part of it.

The winner of this year’s Groundwater KIX Start Competition will win return flights for two people from their nearest capital city to the Gold Coast, accommodation in a two-bedroom apartment for three nights, the opportunity to play the opening set at Groundwater Country Music Festival, transport to and from the stage and any KIX on-ground engagements, and interviews and photos.

In addition to those prizes, the winner will take home a Gold Coast theme park experience, on-air support from KIX Country and iHeartCountry, essential packages in recording (at Machine Lab Recording), PR (with Varrasso PR), a six-month strategic marketing package (with Market The Music), and three artist media training sessions with KIX Country and iHeartCountry’s Justin Thomson.

You can enter this year’s competition here.

Last year’s Groundwater KIX Start Competition winner was Rockhampton-based singer Denvah, who went on to compete – and become a runner-up – on this year’s season of Australian Idol.

Upon her win, Denvah said, “I’m so grateful and excited to have been chosen as the winner for Groundwater’s KIX-Start 2023 competition. The support from this competition is amazing and truly a blessing. The talent in the top 10 was absolutely incredible, so I’m extremely honoured to have been selected.”
