More Randy Houser More Randy Houser

Randy Houser is practically part Aussie by now. After a decade of back-and-forth trips down under and a steadily growing Australian fanbase, the Mississippi-born country star is heading back our way this June, and if you’ve seen one of his shows before, you know it’s something special.

“I get excited to come back. Honestly, it’s like I’ve got two homes now,” Houser tells Countrytown. “I’ve built a lot of family in Australia. I just love it, the people, the vibe, everything.”

If you caught his One Night Only acoustic show in Melbourne earlier this year, you might remember the unexpected star of the night, his son, Huck. “He’s just born to do it,” Houser laughs. “He’s constantly building stages out of the couch and putting on shows in our living room. In his mind, he’s already got thousands of adoring fans outside our window.”

It’s no surprise Huck might follow in his dad’s footsteps. With Randy’s recently released deluxe edition of Note to Self, a record he not only co-wrote but also co-produced, he’s clearly setting the bar high. “I’ve built my own studio at home now, so once the kids are in bed, I can just dive in,” he says. “After working with some of Nashville’s best, I got to the point where I thought, ‘You know what? I’ve got this.’ Now I’m doing the mixing, the production, it’s a full creative process.”

And yes, that does mean new music is on the horizon. “I’ll definitely be playing some unreleased stuff in Australia,” Houser shares. One of those tracks is a cheeky new one called The Dog House, about a guy who lands in hot water with his wife and escapes to a fictional bar with the same name. It’s a tongue-in-cheek tribute to every guy who's ever ended up in hot water at home.

Already proving to be a crowd favourite in the making. “It’s where all the guys go when they’ve been kicked out or are just in trouble with their partner. It’s not real, just a place in your head to escape and vent about how you got there. It’s a fun one, but there’s heart in it too.” It’s a classic Houser track, clever storytelling with a wink and a whole lot of soul.

In addition to his headline shows, Houser will also be performing at Country Fest in North Queensland, his second time hitting that stage. “It’s real country up there,” he says with a grin. “Great fans, great energy. I’m stoked to be back.”

Whether it’s a stripped-back acoustic set or a full-throttle festival gig, Houser says the vibe depends on the room. “I like to take people on a ride, lift them up, then bring it down and let everyone breathe a bit,” he explains. “Some of those intimate shows, though, are actually my favourite. You feel the connection more deeply.”

This time around, Houser is doubling down on energy. Joining him on the road is longtime friend and fellow country artist Jerrod Niemann. “Let’s just say… Australia should be prepared,” Houser laughs. “Jerrod’s tamed down over the years, but I’ve told him not to bring that version. We’re here to have a good time.”

So, what can fans expect this June? A few laughs, maybe a tear or two, and definitely some unforgettable music.
