Girl Drinks Beer by Dan Davidson and Travis Collins – Song of the Day

Ahead of their epic double header show at the Exchange Hotel in Newcastle tonight with special guest Chelsea Berman, Canada’s Dan Davidson and homegrown superstar Travis Collins have teamed up on the new high energy banger Girl Drinks Beer. It’s our Song of the Day!

Produced by Dan and co-written with his good mates, David Borys (Vancouver/Nashville), and Andrew Peebles (Nashville), Girl Drinks Beer is a good fun, country banger, that'll get any party started, whether it be in the Australian summer or Canadian winter, or somewhere in between.

Dan says, "The song is a great little party country tune! We aren't reinventing the wheel, just showing some love for all those country girls who like to keep things simple."

His first time Down Under, platinum and award-winning artist, Dan recently performed at the Groundwater Country Music Festival, impressing everybody who had the opportunity to see him. Now in Newcastle, he's ready to rock the Exchange Hotel in Newcastle tonight, followed by Sunset Sounds in southwestern Sydney, tomorrow, Saturday, November 5.

Dan adds, “What better way to celebrate a collab with a good Aussie buddy than to do it here while actually on tour in Australia. I’m making so many new friends here and can’t wait to come back and do it all again very soon!”

Dan has created undeniable momentum in the last few years. After getting his start in indie rock band Tupelo Honey, Dan made the move to country in 2014 with the release of his debut solo single, Unkiss Her the following year. His EP’s Songs For Georgia and the award-winning Juliet followed. In total, he has since scored 6 CCMA nominations, 10 ACMA awards, a gold record and a #1 selling Canadian song and record.

He previously teamed up with Canadian trio, The Road Hammers on Roll With It, which peaked at #11 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart as well as with Hayley Jensen on his second Australian release, Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You, which debuted at #7.

Girl Drinks Beer follows Dan’s previous single Warm Beer, written with Clayton Bellamy and Mitch Merritt and produced by multiple award-winning CCMA producer of the year, Jeff Dalziel.

He said, “This is the beer garden banger I’ve always wanted to release. It’s a little bit of Texas-style, drunken poet country; and a little bit of that classic anthemic sing along! I’m so proud of how clever, yet simple, this one came out!”

Travis has fast established himself as a leading light in Australian country music. Nine studio albums later, Travis is a regular mainstage fixture at Australia’s peak country music festivals and routinely plays to sold-out crowds across the country.

His previous single, One Of Them Nights is quickly racing up the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart, and so far, has peaked at #2. One Of Them Nights and recent release, Just The Way, are the two tracks lifted from his forthcoming studio album, due in 2023.

The album follows his 2020 release, Wreck Me, which took out the #1 spot on the ARIA Country Albums Chart, debuting in the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, and landing at #4 on the iTunes Australian Albums Chart. Wreck Me also landed Travis his second ARIA Award nomination for ‘Best Country Album’, and spawned Wreck Me: Acoustic Sessions, released later that year.
