We asked, and you answered: we’ve gathered our readers’ favourite regional pubs across Australia.

Last week, Countrytown took to social media and asked our readers: which regional pub deserves a road trip? Every Aussie’s got that pub they reckon is worth the drive, and our readers proved that to be a fact.

The staff at Countrytown has read your answers and counted the votes. Of course, some pubs were more popular with you than others, but we felt the love with every comment. Whether your local drinking hole has the best parma (Victorian here, it’s a parma) or beer, or the best vibe, we want to know all about it.

So, without further ado, here are Countrytown readers’ top ten regional pubs across Australia.

Stockman Hotel, Texas, Queensland

This one received the most votes from our readers, and just reading about it makes us want to be there.

Described as a family-run “proud old pub with a new generation behind the bar and boots on the ground” and a reputation for serving country feeds with “a touch of class,” plus cold beer and takeaway options, the Stockman Hotel is the ultimate location for gatherings.

With space to eat, drink and socialise, plus hotel rooms upstairs, it’s a venue where you can spend a weekend in the small Queensland town of Texas and truly enjoy yourself.

While the Stockman Hotel is known for typical pub fare, whether it’s red meat or seafood served with chips or veggies, it’s also hosting a Curry Night tonight that sounds sublime.

Royal Hotel, Spring Ridge, NSW

This pub is also popular with Countrytown readers. In the heart of some of Australia’s best farming country, owners described the Royal Hotel as a “true, old-fashioned workers’ and travellers’ pub.”

Whether you’re heading down for a beer, schnitty, rissoles, steak, or some crispy-looking chips, we advise stopping if you’re hungry. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Dargo Hotel, Dargo, VIC

Located in the foothills of Victoria’s High Country, the Dargo Hotel has a homely vibe and accommodation on offer for those visiting the tiny town.

Dargo has a population of approximately 150 people and is home to the Alpine National Park, Avon Wilderness Park and Mitchell River National Park. And, of course, the long-running Darbo Hotel.

Serving your favourite beers and Hard Rated on tap, you can enjoy a drink with expansive parma, burger, main, and dessert options.

Daly Waters Pub, Daly Waters, NT

If you’ve driven six and a half hours south from Darwin or ten hours north of Alice Springs, you’ll be very happy to arrive at the Daly Waters Pub and try their delicious, freezing cold beer.

Situated off the Stuart Highway, the pub’s walls and ceiling are filled with souvenirs left by keen patrons. With accommodation available for those looking to escape the heat of the outback, there’s plenty on offer for everyone from a daily happy hour, playground for kids, live sport on TV, a souvenir shop, and “awesome pub grub.”

Feeling hungry? The pub has you sorted, with “the loin of kangaroo,” “crocodile slider,” and classic chicken schnitzels to satisfy your appetite.

The Pink Roadhouse, Oodnadatta, SA

It’s pink, and it’s indeed a roadhouse. But there’s more to this regional pub than what meets the eye.

Situated in Oodnadatta, South Australia, The Pink Roadhouse offers a regional experience with locally sourced food, accommodation, and an Australia Post Office attached to the venue. Home to the Oodnaburger, you know what you need to try next time you’re travelling through the Simpson Desert.

Redcliffe Tavern, Redcliffe, WA

Recognised as a fun and friendly pub in Redcliffe, Western Australia, the Redcliffe Tavern is just a moment’s walk from the ocean and Bee Gees Way—who doesn’t want some musical history by the ocean?

Featuring modern facilities and impressive, old-fashioned service from staff, a family Bistro open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and a gaming lounge, there’s something for everyone who stops at this pub.

The Pub in the Paddock, Pyengana, TAS

The Pub in the Paddock is one of the oldest pubs in Tasmania. It’s just two hours from Launceston and half an hour from St Helens, on the scenic track and offering food punters describe as “fantastic.”

In addition to hearty country meals, the venue is home to cozy pub accommodation that’s suitable for singles, couples or families. Next time you plan a trip to Tasmania, we have just the spot for you.

Holmesville Pub, Holmesville, NSW

In a special mention, the Holmesville Pub was one of the many pubs suggested to us by one of Countrytown’s favourite Australian artists, Wade Forster, and we can see why.

Featuring cool drinks and a modern Australian menu that contains pub favourites and signature dishes, it’s a space to eat and drink with friends, and with live music every Saturday, it’s a must-visit venue with plenty going for it.

The New Royal Hotel, Rubyvale, QLD

In the heart of the Queensland town of Rubyvale is a small country pub, open for lunch, dinner and a few drinks in between.

The New Royal Hotel is open seven days a week, and also offers on-site cabin accommodation, a drive-thru bottle shop, access to sports on Foxtel, weekly trivia, live music, and more. It’s far from just a bistro or just any other pub.

Paynesville Hotel, Gippsland, VIC

This lakeside venue is dishing up cold drinks and great food, highlighting local produce on a classic pub menu that’s affordable and delicious.

Established in 1880, the Paynesville Hotel spotlights the rich history and heritage of the Gippsland community. It’s a watering hole for locals and tourists alike, offering a sense of comfort to all.
