Footage of Kacey Musgraves lashing out at a fan who pulled at her arm during a recent concert has gone viral, with the Golden Hour singer addressing the incident over the weekend.

On Friday (29 November), Musgraves started walking through the crowd at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, when a fan at the front of the barricade pulled at her arm. She responded by saying, “What the fuck?” and uttered into the microphone as she was walking away, “Jesus fucking Christ.”

A day later (30 November), she addressed the incident while talking to the audience at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. Describing the person who grabbed her the night before as “This Tampa bitch,” Musgraves said:

Last night, this Tampa bitch… she kinda ruined it. She ruined it for everyone. I thought I was going to have to get all East Texas on her. Take off my earrings. But Florida goes hard. It felt like when you type your name and birthday into the Florida man [website]. [For me] the Tampa girl popped up.

You can watch footage of the incident and Musgraves’ reaction below.

Kacey Musgraves is touring in support of her latest album, Deeper Well, which she released in March (an expanded edition, Deeper Into The Well, arrived in August).

Musgraves recorded most of the album at the renowned Electric Lady Studios with longtime collaborators Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, an experience inspired by the rich musical history and lush energy of New York City’s Greenwich Village.

She explained, “I was seeking some different environmental energy, and Electric Lady has the best mojo. Great ghosts.”

Of the album’s concepts, Musgraves added:

Saturn returns, cardinals embody a dead friend, love is given and taken, streets rush by, belongings are packed and old chapters deserted, new love blooms, jade bracelets serve as talismans, deep lessons emerge, small details define everything, the woods are a refuge and New York City serves as the same gleaming beacon as Oz.

Deeper Well arrived after her fourth album, star-crossed, was released in September 2021.
