Tori ForsythTori Forsyth just wanted to film a music video for her brand new single I’m Not God. Instead, she ended up dealing with a venue dispute, a very determined mums’ group and eventually the police.
Forsyth had hired a local hall in Newcastle to shoot the music video for her latest single, bringing along guitarist Matty Newton and videographer Bradley Murnane to capture the footage.
Murnane arrived first to check in and use the venue’s access code to open the hall ahead of filming. Everything seemed routine, until it wasn’t.
Shortly before Forsyth arrived on set, she received a call from Murnane saying there was a “slight issue” and suggesting she take her time getting there. Thinking it was nothing major, Forsyth stayed back a little longer to finish hair and makeup.
About twenty minutes later, her phone rang again, this time with a very different message.
Murnane told her: “I need you here immediately. I need help.”
When Forsyth arrived, she discovered the problem: the hall had apparently been double-booked, and a local mothers’ group had arrived expecting to use the space.
Despite Murnane having proof that the hall had been privately hired for the music video shoot, the group reportedly asked him to leave the premises.
Trying to keep things calm, Forsyth offered to share the space despite the fact they had booked the hall privately.
That wasn’t enough.

The group then insisted the crew provide Working With Children checks, which they were able to produce. According to Forsyth, she was also asked the patronising question: “Do you have children? If you don’t have children you wouldn’t understand.”
Soon after, police arrived at the hall.
After reviewing the booking details, officers sided with Forsyth and her team, confirming they had legally hired the venue and were entitled to be there.
In a twist of irony, the mothers’ group then agreed to share the hall after all.
Throughout the filming of the clip, the mothers made their best attempt to disrupt the filming and put off Forsyth as much as possible, so much so Forsyth says you can see the disdain in her face when watching back the clip.
Forsyth can laugh about the situation now, but it definitely wasn’t the smoothest start to a music video shoot.
