The Tassie duo recently announced a sprawling national tour.
The Wolfe Brothers and The Shires
The Wolfe Brothers have returned with a scorching new single called Love Like That, which features the exceptional talents of UK duo The Shires.
It’s the latest track to be spotlit from Livin’ The Dream, the sixth studio album to arrive from the Longley, Tasmania-native Nick and Tom Wolfe. The record itself landed on April 14 via BMG, and also features the hit title track (which we first heard last November) and Here’s To The Ones (which the brothers dropped in March). The former track made it to #1 on the Countrytown Hot 50 back in January, while the latter also peaked in the top ten.
Chatting with Countrytown at this year’s CMC Rocks festival, Tom Wolfe said of the brothers’ musical direction on Livin’ The Dream: “We’ve sort of gone back to a bit more of a country rock sound, which is something we both really wanted to do. I think there’s some of the best stuff we’ve ever written on it, I really do. I think country music you need a bit of age maybe and life experience to write about stuff, so I feel really confident about the songs.”
Earlier this month, The Wolfe Brothers announced a sprawling national tour in support of the album, with 22 dates on the itinerary between now and early September. In addition to some choice festival spots like the Gympie Music Muster and NQ’s Rock ’n Country, they’ll be joined for a suite of headline shows by Max Jackson (winner of the 2022 Toyota Star Maker contest) and Canadian stalwart Gord Bamford.
Meanwhile, The Shires are still making waves on the back of their fifth studio album, 10 Year Plan, which arrived last March on BMG. It’s been six long years since the duo – comprised of singer-songwriters Chrissie Rhodes and Ben Earle – last toured Australia… Here’s hoping The Wolfe Brothers bring them back Down Under soon, so we can hear Love Like That sung by them all in the flesh.
