The five best Florida Georgia Line songs, ranked

It’s been a HUGE week for American country music duo Florida Georgia Line with their latest single Long Live, off their fifth studio album Life Rolls On, topping the US and Canadian Billboard charts, making it their 18th number one overall. Also, their collaboration single, Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen. with Chase Rice re-entered the Countrytown Music Network Hot 50 chart at #26 last week.  

Individually, too, the pair have been on a roll. Tyler Hubbard has just released a single with TikTok star Lathan Warlick, following the unifying Undivided with Tim McGraw; and, as well as working on the country musical May We All, Brian Kelley announced his debut solo EP, BK’s Wave Pack will drop next week.

Phew, that’s a lot going on ... To celebrate all the aforementioned achievements, we’re counting down our five favourite songs for Florida Georgia Line, ranked!

5. Meant To Be

Technically, Meant To Be is a song by country-pop singer, Bebe Rexha which features FGL – but considering its impact on the charts worldwide (including peaking at #2 on the Australian ARIA charts) as well as it being nominated for over twenty music awards, including for ‘Best Country Duo/Group Performance’ at the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards, we thought it fit. Meant To Be became Rexha's third top ten hit and her first as a solo lead artist, as well as the second top ten hit for FGL.

4. Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.

Again, while technically not a FGL song as it was released in 2020 by singer-songwriter Chase Rice, and will feature on his upcoming The Album, Pt. III release. And, although written before the pandemic, the song turned out to foreshadow much of what was to come in 2020. The story behind the collaboration is defined by poetic kismet and real-world bonds, with Rice having grown up with Kelley before moving cross country. The two reconnected years later and remained close as they each discovered a love for music.

3. Round Here

Round Here was co-written by Countrytown favourite, Thomas Rhett with Rodney Clawson and Chris Tompkins. The song was the third single from their album, Here’s to the Good Times. It become the duo’s third consecutive number one on the US Country Airplay chart, thus making FGL only the second duo after Brooks & Dunn to send its first three singles to number one on that chart. The music video, directed by Peter Zacadil, was filmed in the duo’s hometowns in Ormond Beach, Florida and Monroe, Georgia.

2. This Is How We Roll

This Is How We Roll featuring fellow country music singer Luke Bryan was the fifth and final single from FGL’s debut studio album, Here’s to the Good Times, although it is only included on the 2013 re-release. A remix, featuring R&B singer-songwriter, Jason Derulo and Bryan was released the following year. The track went quintuple platinum in 2018, and featured in the video game WWE 2K15.

1. Cruise

Cruise was the duo’s 2012 debut single. It broke two major sales records: it was downloaded over seven million times, making it the first country song ever to receive the diamond certification, and it became the best-selling digital country song of all time, until it was surpassed in 2017 by Sam Hunt’s Body Like A Backroad. It also helped to pioneer the genre of country music termed ‘bro-country’, which incorporates rock and hip-hop, and tends to cover subject matter such as partying, drinking, driving trucks, and sexual attraction.
