It’s official: after teasing and playing it live on stage, Morgan Wallen has announced the release date for his highly anticipated new single, Lies, Lies, Lies.

Wallen’s new song will be released on Thursday, 4 July. While the song will be released on Independence Day in the US, the release date also coincides with his upcoming appearance at the UK’s BST Hyde Park festival.

Back in February, Wallen premiered the song fans named Lies, Lies, Lies (based on the song’s lyrics) alongside ERNEST and HARDY in Nashville.

In video footage shared on the Country Cast Instagram account, the unreleased track is played on acoustic guitar, with Wallen harmonising with his friends mentioned above. Lies, Lies, Lies is a bit of a throwback to Wallen’s most traditional numbers: heartbreak and relatability bathed in charisma and a yearning for country music storytelling.

Since the premiere of Lies, Lies, Lies earlier this year, Wallen has played the song on another twelve occasions from April to this month, including at Stagecoach and in stadiums across the US. Stay tuned to Wallen’s social media profiles for more information as it arrives.

Earlier this year, Wallen celebrated the first anniversary of One Thing At A Time by surprise releasing his Abbey Road Sessions live videos, playing five songs from the album – Thinkin’ Bout Me, Sunrise, Everything I Love, I Wrote The Book, and I Deserve A Drink – as well as the previously unreleased Lies, Lies, Lies and a cover of Nothing But Thieves’ Graveyard Whistling.

Wallen recently opened his new bar, This Bar & Nashville Kitchen, in Nashville, and last month, went to #1 with his collaboration with Post Malone, I Had Some Help.

Last week, Wallen took to his Instagram Stories to tease something new on the way.

In the image, Wallen is sitting on a couch in the studio – usually, something that isn’t all that noteworthy – but in the top right corner of the Instagram Story, he posted an emoji of a chef holding a wooden spoon. He’s basically (spoon)feeding us with the following information: he’s cooking something new in the studio.

The latest studio update follows a pair of photos Wallen shared in March and May, respectively. In March, he captioned the photo, “Recording is back in session,” while the May photos showed him singing into a studio microphone.
