Post Malone wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to release country music. He’s kicked off what could be a new album campaign in earnest, teaming up with Morgan Wallen to release the duet I Had Some Help.

Officially out in some parts of the world – like Australia and New Zealand – Post Malone embraces country music in the bright new number, showcasing his rasp in the chorus.

The pop-country tune works perfectly for Wallen, who joins in the second verse and makes I Had Some Help sound like one of his songs.

Post Malone has been teasing the duet with Wallen for weeks on Instagram, sharing images of the pair arm-in-arm and performing together on stage. He first shared a teaser of the chorus last month (26 April), writing in the caption: “They say teamwork makes the dream work”.

A few weeks ago, Post Malone performed at Stagecoach festival and brought out special guests Brad Paisley, Dwight Yoakam, and Sara Evans for a set of country covers, which included Whitehouse Road, Check Yes Or No, Be My Baby Tonight, Don’t Take The Girl, Who’s Your Daddy?, and Three Wooden Crosses.

Last month, he helped close out the annual Million Dollar Show hosted by Bobby Bones with a cover of Hank Williams’ 1952 hit, Honky Tonk Blues.

Displaying his love for country music and a new twang accompanying his signature rasp, he sang, “Well, I left my home down on the rural route/ I told my paw I’m going steppin’ out/ And get the honky-tonk blues”.

He also recently appeared on Beyoncé’s country-inspired new album, Cowboy Carter.

In November, Post Malone confirmed that he was preparing to release a country album.

“Country record is coming,” the Chemical singer and rapper said in a Twitch livestream as fans asked him if he’d dip into country music. “I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville, and it's so fucking sick, but it's not out.”

Revealing that he’s been in the studio working on two different albums – whether they’re both country-related is unsure – Post Malone continued, “We made such sick music down in Nashville. It was so much, so much fun.”
