Morgan Wallen is working on new material. He shared the exciting news while co-hosting Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton on June 23.

Wallen shared, “I’ve already got 12 songs finished, maybe more. I’m just trying to beat what I’ve got. I’m confident in whatever I do next already. Overall, I feel pretty comfortable. I don’t feel rushed. I’ve got other things, I’ve got the tour, I’ve got my son, so I’m glad that I’ve already spent some time on the next project.”

In addition, Wallen revealed what it was like to work with Miranda Lambert on his song, Thought You Should Know. Wallen co-wrote the song with Lambert and Nicolle Galyon in honour of his Mum, Lesli and released the track on Mother’s Day Weekend.

He said, “I had a song I was working on, and I knew it was going to be for my Mum. I wanted to get a female perspective. [Miranda] helped me tremendously. Miranda always says something cool. I’ve always been a fan of hers. She was just what I thought she’d be, except cooler!”

The new project follows a string of recent singles – Don’t Think Jesus, Thought You Should Know and You Proof – as well as record breaking Dangerous: The Double Album. In December, Dangerous: The Double Album was announced as the best-selling album of 2021 across all genres, with a whopping 3.2 million copies sold. It peaked at #2 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and #1 on the Australian ARIA Country Albums Chart. It also took home ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2022 ACM Awards.

Wallen also joined Ernest on Flower Shops – which debuted at #39 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart. You Proof (#10), Wasted On You (#39) and Sand In My Boots (#47), which remain on the Countrytown Hot 50, are still making their way up the chart.
