Melody Moko, Loren Ryan & Vixens Of Fall Are Heading To BIGSOUND 2023

Country music will be represented at this year’s BIGSOUND music showcase and conference event, Australia’s largest of its kind.

Some of the highlights amongst the massive line-up include hip hop act Miss Kaninna, rising country acts Loren Ryan, Melody Moko and Vixens Of Fall, Perth’s DICE and Siobhan Cotchin and Melbourne’s PANIA, Moaning Lisa and The Slingers. From Sydney comes Moss and Little Green.

BIGSOUND’s home of Brisbane will see Full Flower Moon Band, Zheani, Felivand, and Baby Prince take to the stage while Adelaide will showcase the likes of Aleksiah, The Empty Threats and more, and from across the waters to New Zealand/Aotearoa will be Reb Fountain and SWIDT, as well as Casey Mowry and MF Tomlinson flying in from the UK. 

BIGSOUND heads to the Fortitude Valley from 5-8 September, with 141 artists set to make their marks throughout Brisbane’s music hub.

After receiving more than 1300 applications to perform at BIGSOUND from across Australia, New Zealand and the UK, the conference’s organisers had the unenviable task of whittling down the mega list of requests to 141 buzz-worthy acts.

Ryan’s presence at BIGSOUND follows a massive 12 months for Loren Ryan. In 2022, the Suddenly singer released Songs For Charlie, a kid’s country album that includes covers of her daughter’s favourites and four original tracks. It incorporates words and verses in the Gamilaraay language and the musical backing of the didgeridoo and clapsticks.

Hailing from Tamworth in New South Wales, Loren was also a Toyota Star Maker Finalist in 2022. She teamed up with fellow 2022 finalist Billie-Jo Porter to write her single Bounce Back. The saucy track serves as a dopamine hit and confidence boost.

In February, Melody Moko revealed the uncensored version of her music video, Jesus Year, which was banned in the US. Countrytown exclusively premiered the uncensored video.

“Jesus Year came about from a concept my manager (Kaz Waters) wanted me to embody. A Jesus year is your 33rd year, a year where you are reborn in some sense,” Moko said. “I felt that after suffering badly with Post Natal Depression after the birth of my 3rd child, I had recovered as a “better” person than I had been going into it. This song celebrates the idea that out of adversity comes triumph.”

Comprised of sisters Nina, Wren and Lulu, Vixens Of Fall were born and raised in the tropical northern city of Cairns. Following the release of their debut EP, A Love Like Ours, they moved to Brisbane in 2000. They started their professional singing career at the Urban Country Music Festival in 2016 and have since regularly appeared at the Gympie Music Muster and Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Their debut album, Magick In The Chaos, was released in May. The crowd-funded record landed at #1 on the Australian iTunes Country Charts and #11 on the All Genres chart and has had over one million streams to date.
