Country star Megan Moroney gets a lot of fan mail these days, but one note she received before a show has left a lasting mark, both emotionally and literally. She still carries it with her, tucked safely in a growing bag of letters she keeps on her tour bus.

During a recent appearance on Taste of Country Nights, the Am I Okay? singer reflected on the letter that hit her hardest, a message from a young fan who had been bullied at school.

“Sometimes they are pretty heavy,” Moroney shared. “But the one that sticks out to me the most is a girl talking about how she was bullied in school. Bless Your Heart is the only reason she feels like she got the confidence to get through it.”

For Moroney, moments like that are a reminder that her music isn’t just catchy, it’s a lifeline. She revealed that while writing Bless Your Heart, she had kids like that fan in mind.

“I did want these middle schoolers, or whoever, to be able to listen to a song after they're being bullied and be like, ‘You know what? Screw them!’”

The Georgia native says those kinds of connections fuel her as a songwriter. “When you see that it did what it was supposed to do, it's really impactful and makes me wanna keep writing songs that mean stuff.”

Moroney’s star continues to rise. She just released a moving duet with Kenny Chesney titled You Had to Be There, a somewhat thank you gift to the legend who brought her on his stadium tour last summer.
