Lucie Tiger Details New Album 'Small Town Scandal'

"Some of these songs are fun, some are messy, and some get pretty dark, but they all feel like they could have happened somewhere just down the road," Tiger explained.

Australian-born, Nashville-based country artist, Lucie Tiger, has shared the details about her forthcoming album, Small Town Scandal.

Set for release on Wednesday, 30 September, the singer-songwriter drew from her experience of small-town Southern life in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. That two-year period is distilled into a 14-track album that captures a small-town collection of stories: fun songs, forbidden romance, revenge, and dark secrets throughout the record.

Tiger brings characters she met into her musical world, including “lovers and cowboys, preachers and troublemakers, dreamers, schemers, sweethearts, and sinners.” Her cinematic storytelling backs songs about late-night shenanigans, risky decisions, fast cars, whispered secrets, and more.

Musically, she displays her brand of cinematic country, featuring honky-tonk swagger, Southern rock, bluegrass riffs, and atmospheric storytelling.

Recorded in Muscle Shoals, the album found Tiger working with an accomplished studio line-up, including Bob Wray on bass, Clayton Ivey on keys, and Tommy Harden on drums. Tiger sang and played the guitar and shared production duties with Charles Holloman.

Ten tracks are written solely by Tiger, while four songs include collaborators. She penned Cowboy Love Me with Mark Narmore, Stephanie C. Brown, and Maddye Trew; Dixie Alley with Mark Narmore and Skylar King; and Harvest Moon and On My Way To Mississippi with Mark Narmore and Stephanie C. Brown.

“I became fascinated by the way stories travel in a small town,” Tiger explained in a statement. “Everybody knows everybody, everybody has an opinion, and somehow a story can make it from one end of town to the other before you’ve finished your first whiskey.”

She continued, “The songs on SMALL TOWN SCANDAL grew out of that world. Some of these songs are fun, some are messy, and some get pretty dark, but they all feel like they could have happened somewhere just down the road or around the corner.

“Every town has its scandals. The names and details may change, but there are always illicit affairs, old feuds and fresh betrayals, and outsiders who stir things up — and each song in this collection reads like a chapter from life in a small town.”

Small Town Scandal arrives during a period of sizeable momentum for Tiger. Earlier this year, she won the Grand Prize for her song Harvest Moon at the Pensacola Songwriters Festival, while her track Hummingbird won the Country Song of the Year at the 16th Annual InterContinental Music Awards in Hollywood.

Last year, Tiger was named Country Vocalist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards, and she continues to build steam with award nominations and chart recognition in the US and Australia.
