Lainey WilsonFresh from wrapping her latest Australian tour, Lainey Wilson’s jubilant homecoming continues, with the musician announcing that a documentary about her life and career will be heading to Netflix next month.
Dubbed Keepin' Country Cool, the documentary will debut on the streaming platform on April 22nd, following its early premiere at SXSW this week. Netflix’s descriptor notes that Wilson, “redefines what it means to be a modern country star in this documentary exploring her struggles and triumphs at a pivotal career moment.”
A deeply intimate look at Wilson’s career, a preview trailer takes viewers into a writing session with Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson.
"I knew whenever I had written my first song that I loved how it made me feel when I was in the middle of writing a song, when I was coming up with the idea, feeling like 'Man, I created something from nothing, how cool is that?'" Wilson reflects.
"And I knew that that feeling was so special that I couldn't completely let it go," she adds. "And I think that's why I knew it was my calling."
In an Instagram post, Wilson explains that it’s a rare look into aspects of her life which have long been kept hidden from the wider public. “It’s one thing to sing about your life, but it’s another to open the door and let people in to watch it unfold,” she explains.

“Going into this I thought I was going to be sharing some things about me and my life nobody knew, but I truly think during the couple years of filming I figured some things out about myself. I opened the door to my house, my life, my relationships and things I haven’t allowed many people to see.
“My folks always taught me to make everybody feel at home so I want y’all to come on in and make yourself at home.”
Born in Baskin, Louisiana in 1992, Wilson began writing and recording as a teenager, moving to Nashville after graduating high school, and releasing her self-titled debut album in 2014. Her fifth album, Whirlwind, arrived in 2024, debuting at No. 8 in the US and Australia, and hitting No. 3 on the US Country Albums chart.
In 2024, she received her first Grammy Award for Bell Bottom Country, and visited Australia for the first time. Wilson wrapped up her most recent tour to the country just last month, but it’s unclear if any footage from those shows managed a late addition into Keepin' Country Cool.
