KIX Country—the influential Australian country radio station—is launching a new four-day music festival, Rockin’ Rocky 2024.

Set to be held at the Great Western Hotel in Rockhampton, Queensland, from Saturday, 28 December, to Tuesday, 31 December, KIX is bringing the fun.

The event is headlined by James Johnston, and it features beloved Australian acts like Zac & George, Robbie Mortimer, Tyla Rodrigues, and Melanie Dyer, as well as locals Brad Butcher, Denvah, and The Short Fall’s Angelo Conway.

Johnston is amongst the acts promoting the festival on Facebook, encouraging punters to tag a friend (or five) to sign up for pre-sale access to win tickets for themselves and five mates, with winners set to be drawn and announced tomorrow (Wednesday, 4 December) at 9 am AEST—the time pre-sale tickets go live.

To be eligible for the competition, you can tag friends on Johnston’s post here and sign up for pre-sale access here.

Following the pre-sale, general tickets will go on sale at 9 am AEST on Thursday, 5 December. More information about the festival is on the Great Western Hotel website.

On Monday, 30 December, Rockin’ Rocky will host a Songwriters Round featuring dinner and a show. KIX will present a Nashville-like experience where Aussie artists will share a stage, stories, and songs while the crowd enjoys a smorgasbord.

In addition to live music and storytelling, Rockin’ Rocky will host a New Year’s Eve bull ride and an Australian Luke Combs tribute show, starring special guests The Trucker Hat Appreciation Society’s Honky Tonk Hoedown, also on New Year’s Eve.

James Johnston, Zac & George and Denvah are amongst the wide-ranging, massive list of nominees who received attention for the forthcoming Golden Guitar Awards.

Held during the Tamworth Country Music Festival each January, next year’s list of nominees is dominated by Troy Cassar-Daley, who’s been nominated for six awards.

The Toyota 53rd Golden Guitar Awards winners will be revealed on Saturday, 25 January, at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre. Those who aren’t lucky enough to attend can watch the awards live on the Tamworth Country Music Festival website and Facebook page.
