Jelly Roll Cherishes 'Dream Come True' 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' Performance

Jelly Roll ended a breakout 2023 by performing a medley of his hits at the annual ABC special, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, an experience that he’ll “cherish forever”.

The night saw Jelly Roll rock the stage, performing his tracks Halfway To Hell and Need A Favour, as well as being joined by collaborator Jessie Murph for Wild Ones. He performed alongside the likes of Green Day, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Sabrina Carpenter and more.

To commemorate the occasion, the American singer told the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve host, Ryan Seacrest, “I’ve been watching this show since I was a kid, and to be standing up here next to Ryan Seacrest on New Year’s Eve in New York City, what a crazy dream come true going into 2024 as a Grammy-nominated artist!”

In addition to his palpable excitement on stage, Jelly Roll then took to X (formerly Twitter) and explained how momentous the occasion was for him.

“I have literally watched dozens of Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve. Even a few of New Years that Bunnie and I have been together, we have watched this show, and both talked about how much it meant to our childhood,” he wrote. “To get the call to not only be a participant in it but to also be able to bring my family was something I will cherish forever.

“I got to watch the ball drop in the middle of Time Square standing next to my Daughter, Wife, Ryan Seacrest and LL Cool J on National Television. Things I never even dreamed could happen. What a beautiful night. Happy New Years Everybody. My prayer is we all act out of more love and compassion.”

The celebratory event followed a noteworthy couple of months for Jelly Roll, which saw him win the Country Music Association (CMA) Award for Best New Artist (which he subsequently dropped) and earn nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards (for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance).

Reacting to the Grammy nominations, Jelly Roll shared an openly emotional video where he said through tears, “The greatest honour an artist can ever hear is that they’ve been nominated for a Grammy. I got to hear that this morning. I haven’t cried like this since my daddy died. I tried making this video seven times, y’all. I love y’all, man, so fucking much.”
