In exciting news for Jason Isbell fans, he’s finally releasing a solo acoustic album – and it’s coming soon.
The first single, Bury Me, is out now. With flashes of Billy Strings’ influence, the track feels like pre-Southeastern Jason Isbell, featuring eccentric guitar playing and his ever-comforting vocals. You can check it out below.
The new album, Foxes In The Snow, will be released on Friday, 7 March, via Isbell’s own Southeastern Records (Thirty Tigers, Civilians). You can pre-order the album here and find the tracklist below.
Foxes In The Snow was recorded at New York City’s famous Electric Lady Studios in just five days last October. Isbell played the album on his all-mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17 acoustic guitar. Isbell’s latest effort is completely stripped-back, allowing his voice and virtuosic guitar playing to shine in a uniquely bare-bones format.
Isbell’s first new music since the release of 2023’s award-winning Weathervanes (released with his band, The 400 Unit), Foxes In The Snow arrives during the hot streak Isbell has been experiencing since 2013’s Southeastern.
In addition to his musical prowess (Isbell is the first artist to take home the Best Americana Album three times at the Grammy Awards), Isbell has recently tried his hand at acting opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon. The Cover Me Up singer is set to appear in RZA’s upcoming film, One Spoon Of Chocolate, next.
