James Johnston Signs With CAA Music Agency: ‘One Of The Biggest Days In My Career’

James Johnston has signed with CAA Music Agency in Nashville. The WE GREW UP ON artist joins the huge roster of country music superstars including Brett Young, Carly Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Cody Johnson, Dan + Shay, Jelly Roll, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Sam Hunt, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Zac Brown Band and many more.

In fact, since founding in 1975, across film, television, music, sports, digital media, marketing, and beyond, CAA represent thousands of the world’s leading actors, directors, writers, producers, musical artists, comedians, authors, athletes, coaches, broadcasters, models, photographers, teams, leagues, chefs, designers, fashion talent, consumer brands, and more.

“Yesterday was one of the biggest days in my career!” Johnston wrote on social media. “When I was a kid, I looked at some of my hero’s playing shows to audiences around the world and I knew one day I wanted to be there! Yesterday I signed to CAA Music Agency in NASHVILLE to represent me for live performance around the world! I am so excited for this chapter and for where it will lead! Thank you for believing in me and my vision!”

Earlier in the week, Johnston made his CMA Fest debut.

“Yesterday something happened that truly blew me away!” Johnston captioned on social media. “Truth be told I didn’t think anyone was going to be there! But there were and it was people from around the world and a hell of a lot of Aussies! And in that moment, I have never been more proud of where I call home! Here I am on the other side of the world, and you were there to support me!

“The past few months I have felt a little lost with were I’m heading, but that moment right there made me realise how truly lucky I am to have the incredible support I do!... I just want to say thank you for all the love and support you’ve always given me! I don’t take it for granted how incredibly lucky I am to have you on this ride with me cause none of this is possible without you!”

Johnston recently scored another Countrytown Hot 50 Airplay Chart #1 with WE GREW UP ON. It follows RAISED LIKE THAT, SMALL TOWN, COUNTRY BOYS, SAME SONGS and GOT IT GOOD.

Johnston’s rise to the forefront of Australia’s country scene has been a long time coming. Prior to 2021’s RAISED LIKE THAT, Johnston placed third in the 2009 series of Australian Idol, then made the top 24 in the 2014 series of The X Factor Australia.

Thus far in 2023, Johnston has also picked up three prestigious awards. He took home the ‘Country Award’ at this year’s Queensland Music Awards back in March and walked away with both ‘New Talent of the Year’ and ‘Vocal Collaboration of the Year’ (the latter alongside Kaylee Bell) at the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards in January.

Later in the year, he will support Morgan Evans on his Life Upside Down Australian and New Zealand tour. Johnston will also perform at Deni Ute Muster, Savannah In The Round and Cruisin’ Country.
