Country artists, take note Australia’s Country Music Channel (CMC) is officially back on Foxtel from tomorrow, and it’s looking for fresh music. After several years off-air, CMC relaunches under the expert curatorship of Nightlife Music, marking a huge win for the Australian country music scene and an even bigger opportunity for emerging and established artists alike.
CMC was originally canned by Foxtel in 2020 as part of a broader restructuring of their music channels, which saw several niche stations closed or merged. The decision came amid changing viewer habits and the rise of streaming platforms, leading Foxtel to scale back on specialized music TV channels.
This move left many country music fans disappointed, as CMC had long been a dedicated platform for both Australian and international country artists. The channel’s absence created a noticeable gap in the local country music scene, one that the recent reboot now aims to fill.
With over 35 years of experience programming music in venues across the country, Nightlife brings serious pedigree to the reboot. “Nightlife Music and its team of curators have been programming country music into outback pubs and steakhouses across Australia for over 35 years,” says Matt Lymbury, Head of Music & Content at Nightlife. “We have always championed Australia-first programming and CMC will be no different.”
So what does this mean for artists? A direct channel to get your music played on national TV.
“There is such a great depth to our home-grown country catalogue, and we are looking forward to programming a ton of contemporary and legacy Aussie artists,” Matt explains. “We have always been big fans of CMC and CMT and the great amount of Aussie country they championed, so in taking on the tenure with the CMC re-boot, we take that role seriously.”

Nightlife is actively accepting music submissions, making now the ideal time for artists, managers, and labels to get involved. “We have significant experience working with industry artists and labels in the public performance space so we’re looking forward to getting their content onto CMC,” Matt adds.
