Granger Smith and wife Amber revealed that they are expecting a baby boy in a video posted to social media, nearly two years after the death of son, River.
American country singer-songwriter, Granger Smith and wife Amber announced that they are expecting their fourth child in a video posted to social media, nearly two years after the death of their youngest son, River.
Granger writes, “We’re pregnant. I don’t have many words for this video. Life isn’t perfect. Sometimes it’s beat up and broken but it’s NEVER hopeless. God promises that. Our story isn’t finished yet, and neither is yours! Through our suffering and joy, God’s glory radiates through it all!”

In the video, the couple honour their late son River and thanks both him and God for this pregnancy. Footage includes the family coming together, holding hands in a sunny field, cradling Amber's growing belly, shots of sonogram photos and a picture of children London, Lincoln, and River together.
Amber echoed her husband’s sentiments writing, “If I’ve learned anything over the last 2 years, it’s that I do not have as much control as I think I do … Never did I think at 39 I would be blessed with expecting another baby boy. These past couple of years have been so rough but also so full of so much joy, hope, healing, growing and grace from God.”
In a new episode of their web-series The Smiths – their YouTube channel, which boasts over 230K followers – the singer and his actor wife share their full journey from miscarriage to pregnancy in a 50-minute video. The tell-all reveals how the couple had been trying for another baby since January 2020. They ultimately turned to vitro fertilization (IVF), where Amber got pregnant with the first embryo, but miscarried 9 weeks later.
Granger – who is also known by his alter ego Earl Dibbles Jr – adds, “I’ve seen Amber go through so much in the last few years and I watched her yet again with steadfast resilience navigate physical and emotional pain while preparing her body for a 2nd embryo transfer. 4 months later, she was pregnant again with the final embryo ... a baby boy.”
The baby boy is due two months after the second anniversary of River’s death. The 3-year-old drowned in the family’s backyard pool in June of 2019. His death prompted his parents to become advocates for swimming pool safety, and to establish the River Kelly Fund, which, according to the website was founded to “shine our light on those that provide support and bring awareness to causes including children in need, arts and education, wildlife preservation, military, veteran and first responder assistance, donor affiliations and many more organizations close to our hearts.”
