You might not have seen it on your screen, but Brad Cox made sure country music had its moment at the State of Origin decider on Wednesday night, performing pre-game in front of a roaring Accor Stadium crowd. While Channel 9 didn’t air the set on television, we’re not letting it slide. It was big, bold, and very bloody country.

Backed by his full band, Cox hit the field with his signature swagger, delivering a high-energy performance that set the tone for the biggest game of the series. It's not every day you see a country artist take over Origin, especially in New South Wales territory, and the crowd loved every second of it.

A proud Blues supporter, Cox stood tall in home territory, while his partner Sammy White proudly repped the Maroons. Sadly for Brad (and the New South Welshmen among us), Queensland came out on top, meaning it was a long night for one half of that household.

While the broadcast might’ve skipped it, we won’t. Cox’s set reminded everyone that country music isn’t just for dusty back roads and rodeos. It belongs on the biggest stages, footy finals included.
