As we all anxiously wait to don our akubras for the Gympie Music Muster, Countrytown is bringing you everything you need to know for the four day festival.
From dates, to tickets, to artists, to transport, to camping - we’ve got you covered.
The 2024 Gympie Music Muster will run over four days, from Thursday August 22 to Sunday 25, across 6 venues/stages in the Amamoor State Forest (approximately 40 kilometres south-west of Gympie).
Tickets are selling fast, but they’re not entirely sold out. Limited single-day festival passes are still available, while four-day passes and camping options have some more availability. You can buy your tickets through the Gympie Music Muster website. Ticket prices vary by age and day.

This year’s Gympie Music Muster boasts Casey Barnes, Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows and Dragon. They’ll be joined by James Johnston, Brad Cox, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole, Amber Lawrence, Lane Pittman, Shannon Noll, Tex Perkins, Pierce Brothers, and Richard Clapton.
2024’s Australian Idol winner and one-half of Sons Of Atticus, Dylan Wright, will also take the Muster stage, as will his fellow Idol contestant, Denvah.
The Whitlams’ Tim Freedman is also set to debut at the festival this year - and is super keen for it.
"I'm so excited to come and play at the Muster that I've asked if I can play twice,” he said. “So, my piano and pedal steel duo is performing in the intimate Grove on Saturday afternoon as well as the full band show on Sunday. This is my Gympie debut and I can't wait."
Overall, the festival boasts 140 artists on the mammoth lineup, with country, blues, rock, heritage, and folk all represented. You can find the full lineup, alongside info about each artist, here.
Earlier this year, Andrew Swift was named as the official 2024 Gympie Music Muster Ambassador. Gushing about the event, Swift said, “I'm always telling people to go to Gympie and put it on their bucket lists. To be an ambassador for something I'm already passionate about, is an exciting moment... I've got friends who do the rope-off the month before and then commute to Brisbane for work. It caters to families as well as people who want to have a drink and have a good time; the Muster ticks all the boxes and I feel that’s what the festival does incredibly well.”
At the time of writing (15 August), here’s what we know. But, as with many significant events, things will likely change in the lead-up. We will update with show-specific transport info when it comes to hand.
According to the Gympie Music Muster website, the easiest way to find the site is by entering the “Amamoor General Store & Post Office, 4 Busby Street, Amamoor, Queensland” on your Maps app on your Apple or Android mobile device. From there, you should see signs pointing you to the Gympie Music Muster site. Otherwise, just chuck in “Amamoor State Forest” to your GPS and follow the signage till you hit the festival.
Gympie is two hours away from Brisbane by car, an hour and 35 minutes from Hervey Bay, 45 minutes from Noosa and 40 minutes from Tin Can Bay. Public transport options aren’t mentioned on the website – no shuttle bus stops or train station stated – so your best method of transport to the Gympie Music Muster is by car. There is a day carpark for single-day ticketholders, and campers can park their cars at the campsite and catch the first shuttle bus over to the festival grounds.
If you’re only heading in for a day but don’t want to drive, there is a $12 (each way) shuttle bus available, running daily from Gympie to the Muster. Online bookings are essential though.
Free unpowered camping options are included with all Gympie Music Muster tickets, but ticketholders are welcome to upgrade within the grounds. Premium options include the One And Only Rope Off and the Banjos Tent Motel. There is a designated accessible camping area for those with a Government-issued disability parking permit - email info@muster.com.au to check availability.
You can BYO alcohol in the campsite, but strictly no glass is allowed.
Last year’s event hosted over 100 country, blues, folk and Americana acts, including Busby Marou, 2024 returning act Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, Kasey Chambers, Travis Collins, Casey Barnes, Hoodoo Gurus, Melinda Schneider and The Screaming Jets on Thursday and Friday.
Saturday was led by Adam Brand, Gina Jeffreys, the one and only Morgan Evans - who broke the attendance record during his set - and Troy Cassar-Daley. Lastly, Sunday was propelled by Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley, Midland, Sara Stoner, and The Wolfe Brothers.
Elsewhere on the line-up, The Angels, Hayley Jensen, Ash Grunwald, Emily Wurramara, Catherine Britt, Sammy White, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Melody Moko, Southbound xo and many more featured.
2023’s festival was widely regarded as “one of the greatest events in the Muster’s long history.”
